Purity
So theres this weird ball of confusion in my mind at the moment. Its been forming for the past couple of days. Its interwoven with conversations with friends. Purity as it is defined in the scripture is pretty cut and dry. Until you try to mix it with social interaction. There is no amount of text that will ever fully describe a social interaction. You could write books and books and books for years about a single moment in time where two people walk past each other and give each other a look. Unfortunately this seems to be true even of the scripture.
This whole thing started with a conversation with E. She asserted that she had issue with flirty and recalling how to flirt. The question of whether flirting is wrong or not came up. The intent of flirting is to signify attraction. As I think about that I wonder if its possible to flirt in a non-sexual way. What action differentiates flirting from the every day interaction? /me slaps forehead
So this is how my weird mind works. I stumble across this set of web pages. And I’m delighted to find information about such a fanciful idea as trying to destroy the earth. I mean seriously who hasn’t laughed at Dr. Evil’s attempts to do so. I even went so far as to start pondering a video game design to let you do just that. I was thinking something along the lines of ‘The Incredible Machine’ only with the end result being a video card bendingly beautiful destruction of earth. I mean why not? If some one can make and market a game involving building planets from random stuff all balled up. Then why cant I have fun destorying planets?
Then I really got to thinking. Isn’t this guy making an amazing proof for our God and the creation of the universe? If you read through all of those ideas on how to destroy the planet you’ll find that the numbers they come up with are essentially infinite. Even the “naturally” occuring concepts require 5 million years to play out…may be…I mean if, according to big bang theory or what ever the earth hasn’t budged in its supposed 5 million year existance then what leads us to believe then that it will in the next 5 million or 10 million? Try to truely fathom that amount of time. I mean really grasp it. Pretty tough isn’t it?
So we’ve established that the earth is impossible to move any time in the next 5 million years or so. Now try to imagine that such a large dense object which is impossible to move could have formed from some big bang and random falling in of particles. And that it happened not only for our own planet but millions uppon millions of other immovable planets in our galaxy and others. Some one whip out some math on the chances of that happening. Doesn’t that make it more plausible that a creator larger and more powerful than all that put it here and then locked it in place? At the very least if you are a true scientist then you have to accept the theory until its disproven.
The Proverbs throw down
So Stephanie finally got me the link to the Pastors blog who put forward the challenge of reading Proverbs in March. I was challenged to take part in this through Stephanie’s desire to grow and learn. I’m eternally thankful for the challenges posed to me through the things she goes through. So any way the idea is to read through Proverbs doing a chapter a day. It works nicely in March. 31 Chapters in 31 Days. I probably won’t post every day on Proverbs but when it really hits me I’m sure I’ll be posting.
I also can’t keep my trap shut about Family Force 5!!!! I have trouble explaining what it is about Force Family 5 that I find so appealing. It’s fun its fast its new and fresh. They dont sound like any other band I’ve ever heard before. Read more »
Prov. 9 goodness
So this really hit me today when I choose to run to the scripture during a time of temptation. Not only was I able to escape temptation through the scripture but I got some amazing insight into an area of my life I apparently need to work on. I apparently am not considered wise. I concluded this after looking at my finances, uck, and then realized that no one comes to me with my own issues. I do suppose that that may indicate an issue with others not being wise as well. I think back though to a conversation my self and E. had a while back in which she indicated there were things she thought I needed to work on but she wouldn’t bring them to me. She was afraid of my reaction. So I conclude that I’m not very wise. Any way, heres the scripture.
Proverbs 9:4-12
The Way of Wisdom
4 “ Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!”
As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,
5 “ Come, eat of my bread
And drink of the wine I have mixed.
6 Forsake foolishness and live,
And go in the way of understanding.
7 “ He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself,
And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself.
8 Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you;
Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;
Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 “ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11 For by me your days will be multiplied,
And years of life will be added to you.
12 If you are wise, you are wise for yourself,
And if you scoff, you will bear it alone.”
