Dag, yo! Snap dog! even.
So I just heard ‘Wake the Regiment’ by The Wedding. I’ve owned the CD for some time and loved the tune of this song but never payed close attention to the words. After going through BCT and being away from friends and family for a time longer than a few weeks I can now really really relate to this song. Having written home to those I care about. The thoughts of her and the life experiences we’ve had together being the only things motivating me to keep going. The things I’ve learned from her keeping me from trouble and harm. I pray for her and thank God for her every day. If only I could tell her.
It’s never been this cold before,
Now it’s getting to me
Writing my thoughts home to you
Not knowing if i’ll ever see your face again, again
So wake the regiment
We’re marching on tonight
This is what we live for, this is what we live for
So wake the regiment
We’re taking back what’s ours
Home is what we die for, home is what we die for
Now memories of yesteryear
They’re enough to get me through just one more time
I’m thinking about you and all the things that you’ve taught me in this life
I’ll remember till I die
So wake the regiment
We’re marching on tonight
This is what we live for, this is what we live for
So wake the regiment
We’re taking back what’s ours
Home is what we die for, home is what we die for
